Aboyne is located in the midst of Royal Deeside. It sits on the banks of the River Dee and is surrounded by forests and dramatic hills including Mount Keen, Scotland's most easterly Munro.
With the Cairngorms National Park to the west and Aberdeen only 29 miles to the east, Aboyne is a popular tourist destination and easily reached by road, rail, air and even bike.

You can go golfing, horseback riding and fishing around Aboyne, or simply enjoy the landscape and its superb trails. There are bike parks, stone circles, fly fishing, equestrian centres and much more on offer nearby.

The 201 bus stops across the road from the Illuminator's start line - just ask the driver to drop you at the Community Centre / Academy.
